Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Police then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for details.
A senior political figure said the incident left him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right attack five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at residents of migrant background in five years prior.
