The speculation surrounding The Game Awards was significant, particularly after host Geoff Keighley shared an enigmatic photo of a strange statue. The secret has been revealed. Larian Studios is developing a completely new Divinity game.
Titled simply Divinity, the game was presented with a bold trailer that included memorable imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to an orgy and the very unleashing of hell.
Not the Expected Sequel
Anyone hoping for Divinity Original Sin 3, this is not that. The studio stated ahead of time that a direct sequel to its beloved RPGs is not currently in development.
Nevertheless, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a continuation of the main series. This distinction suggests that the team might be designing a real-time experience as opposed to another turn-based title. Currently, this is speculation, as only a announcement clip is available.
What Makes Divinity Special
The Divinity series is widely praised and it's fair to claim it sparked the contemporary revival of crunchy computer role-playing games. These games are defined by detailed worlds, choice-driven narratives, and deep class systems—elements that recently found massive success in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its setting is familiar fare, what truly sets Divinity apart is the unprecedented level of trust bestowed upon the player.

The series is also wonderfully open-ended, letting players to experiment throughout the entire experience. Nearly every quest can be solved in a variety of manners, often in surprising fashion.
- You might progress the story because you heeded something an animal companion shared.
- Or, you could defeat a foe by using the world itself in a unorthodox way.
